There's something about a sax player so lost in the music that he closes his eyes, squints tightly, and throws his head back as if transporting to another realm.

There's emotion, there's story, there's struggle. It all fades as he navigates the rhythm of the moment, but life remains of the other side. He doesn't escape it forever, but relishes the few bars in which it fades to gray.

The process of creation reflected the musician's struggle as well... uneven varnish, framing inconsistencies, and texture challenges to list a few. The name speaks to every facet of the piece both inside and out. However, sometimes, that makes it the perfect work of art.
